Kastle X-11 Ice
Even in the best of seasons New England skiers have to deal with ice. KŠstle has designed a special version of its X 11 racing series just for those days and is called appropriately, the Ice ($230, 185-215 cm). Explains product manager Pete Juen, "What we wanted was a full-bore racing machine that could carve on ice. The Ice shares most of its components with KŠstleÕs World Cup and National Team although it is torsionally stiffer. Aluminum layers are used top and bottom. They run all the way out to the edge and we have eliminated all rubber layers. Most unique is the ski's flex pattern - soft in the center section and stiffer in the tip and tail for a solid steering bite with a narrow comparatively straight sidecut to allow the ski's soft center to take its fulI effect."
