Description

Encompassing a soft tip and tail with quickness edge-to-edge from a 67.8mm waist. The Spectralite was an all new ski in the 1978-1979 Hexcel line, designed for aggressive bump skiers but soft enough to keep the intermediate trouble-free. While the Spectralite used the same construction and soft flex as the popular Hexcelerator II, it was considerably narrower. According to Hexcel's Jon Putnam, it was built in the same mold as Hexcel's slalom-sidecut skis, to make it quicker edge-to-edge than the Hexcelerator II. Like all Hexcel skis, the Spectralite used a lightweight aluminum honeycomb core sandwiched between layers of high strength pre-impregnated fiberglass. A special inlay of high density foam on the bottom of the ski protects the core from rock damage. 170-195cm
