Pouring all ingredients [gin, dry vermouth] into a mixing glass with ice cubes, the ingredients are mixed then strained and served “straight up” (without ice) in a chilled cocktail glass and garnished with either a green olive or a twist of lemon (a strip of the peel, usually squeezed or twisted to express volatile oils onto the surface of the drink).
Today was one of the greatest boot days in a long time. Not 1 but 2 pairs of 20+ year old Salomons (late 80′s SX61 and early 90′s SX92 Equipe), still out there, eating up mountains from east to west.
Got home Sunday afternoon, went tubing, packed it up again and headed out Monday morning. Sure enough, it’s Tuesday morning and snowing. Amazingly, in the first 3 miles of interstate I traveled, remnants of 3 accidents. One small car spun off in the weeds to my right, late model pick up truck upside down on the barrier that seperates north and south bound traffic, and just a little further an SUV that had struck the guard rail on an overpass. I hope there is enough gas in the snow blower . . .
Bumped into Teton Village Sports‘ one-and-only, Muff Muhlfeld between appointments , attempting to navigate his way through the labrynth of new gear that is Outdoor Retailer:

Figure out where you are going.
Look up in the air then back at the map, several times.
Attempt to return map to its previously folded state.
Begin walking to new destination.
Get distracted by sweet new items.
Have your photo taken.
Did you think Outdoor Retailer coverage was going to be about new products? —Ed
Ut per communem, tradeshow season begins with a lovely 30mph drive through Snake River Canyon. It seems that it always storms during the shows. Associates like to point out the fact that Jackson is getting hammered, My wife gets familiar with the snow blower, and I look up at the florescent lights in an attempt to keep positive.
It’s amazing what you find when you are looking for something specific; usually the results lack any relevance, sometimes a hidden gem gets discovered. I have a hunch, more to come.
